Learn the make-up discipline of making someone look realistically bald. In this intense 2-day workshop, the bald cap is the prosthetic. Beginning with bald cap making techniques, you will learn how to create your own latex bald cap that can be used for Life-Casting or in any Make-Up FX where a bald character is desired. Next you will learn how to hide the hair inside a bald cap before applying. Then you will learn how to properly apply and blend a plastic bald cap using techniques used by FX masters in the industry. Finally, you will learn how to properly paint the bald cap by matching the skin tone of your fellow bald cap student to whom you will be applying the bald cap. This workshop will consist of demonstrations and HANDS-ON learning. All materials included, including a Bald Cap Make-Up FX Kit for you to keep! Be prepared to take notes. NOTE: Latex and Latex products will be used in this class.

KOSART STUDENT SPOTLIGHT:
BALD CAPS with Anna Cali & Justine Losoya
BALD CAPS with Anna Cali & Justine Losoya
After an impromptu BALD CAP workshop in January 2015 that J. Anthony Kosar created exclusively for Kosart Atelier Students Anna Cali & Justine Losoya who had a potential opportunity to work for the Lyric Opera of Chicago, they got a job doing Bald Cap Make-Up FX for the Lyric Opera's production of The Passenger, a KOSART STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: BALD CAPS with Anna Cali & Justine Losoyan opera about women prisoners in a Nazi concentration camp during the Holocaust. And as the performers are female, most of them had a lot of hair to hide in order to make them actually look realistically bald.
Here are a few words from Kosart Student Anna Cali:
"Anthony has a tremendous amount of knowledge to offer and is willing and happy to share everything he knows with his students. Learning from Anthony definitely took me to the next step in my life, and I couldn't be more grateful. I had an impromptu class with fellow student and makeup artist Justine Losoya. Anthony took the time to privately teach us the techniques of how to apply a bald cap, even though this wasn't a class being offered at the time. With the new skills we had gained from Anthony's lesson, Justine and I both had the opportunity to work for The Lyric Opera of Chicago applying bald caps for a production. This was an amazing opportunity and definitely jump started my career and I have Anthony and Kosart Atelier to thank."

Here are a few words from Kosart Student Justine Losoya:
"It's incredible to see someone of Anthony's caliber in the FX and art world so eager to share his knowledge with anyone willing to learn. He was gracious enough to teach me and another student Anna all he knows about bald caps and guide us through the process as we practiced on each other. It lead to us landing a job at the Lyric Opera of Chicago for their closing season show 'The Passenger,' where we had the opportunity to apply bald caps to some of their opera singers for each performance. It was an amazing experience I would have never had if it weren't for Anthony. I'm so happy Kosart Atelier added a bald cap workshop after our impromptu class. It's a very useful skill to have for all types of character creation."
