MAQUETTE SCULPTING Begins:
Saturdays: Feb 16, 23, Mar 2, 16 ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: Saturday February 16th NOTE: There will be no class on Saturday March 9th Course Description: A maquette is a sculptor's small preliminary model or study. In the FX industry, a sculptor brings dimension to the concept art by first sculpting a maquette of the creature before sculpting it at full scale. Maquettes are also widely used in the gaming and 3D animation world where traditionally sculpted maquettes are 3D scanned into the computer for rigging the digital model for animation. In this course taught by
artist J. Anthony Kosar, you will learn the professional process on
how to design and sculpt your own maquette, beginning
with full body character/creature concept design fundamentals. Next you will
learn to proportionately build a wire armature to dynamically pose your creature. You will then learn sculpting techniques to form your maquette by applying anatomical understanding. NOTE: students will not be making molds or castings of their sculpture in this course. This course will consist of lectures, demonstrations, and
hands-on learning. All materials included, including a sculpting tool
set for you to keep! Also, as an added bonus, you will learn how to fabricate your own custom sculpting tools (examples pictured below). Be prepared to take notes.

FOR MAQUETTE SCULPTING: There is no enrollment deadline, students can enroll at the door on first day of class. However, seating is limited so reserve your spot and enroll today! To redeem a gift certificate, the recipient must have a PayPal account and enroll in a class or workshop online through this website only. Buying a gift certificate does not automatically enroll the recipient into a class or workshop. Instructions are on the gift certificate. Credit/debit cards are only accepted through Paypal. Due to tools and materials supplied by Kosart Effects Studios to the students, fees are non-refundable. However, students who miss a class day are invited to make up the same class day during another available course session. All course dates are subject to change. If a class date is canceled and/or postponed, it is up to Kosart Effects Studios when the class will be rescheduled. If classes are canceled and/or postponed by Kosart Effects Studios only, students will have the option to keep their spot for the rescheduled dates or receive a refund. Kosart Effects Studios and J.
